Through my music publications I was already getting PR work for major record companies and music corporations such as Sony and Universal.
Then in 2000 a friend of a friend of a friend asked me to contact a body called the Greater London Authority as they needed a female photographer and they were desperate. I didn't know whether to be grateful or offended but I got the work even though I knew nothing about politics. Ken Livingstone was mayor and he didn't trust photographers and I didn't trust politicians so it was not a match made in heaven.
As it turned out they liked the photos and the next event happened to be a music festival so I was immediately booked for that. Since then I have covered the Royal opening of City Hall, Ken Livingstone Election campaign, The bid for the 2012 Olympics and countless conferences, cultural festivals, press calls, and VIP bun fights.
I have developed close links with The Poetry Society through SLAMbassadors and Nutkhut as well as the The London Assembly. I also took Ken's wedding so I guess somewhere along the line we got to trust each other.
